I finally got to see

viciousdisorder today! And it was good to meet the new little person in her life. I told him that too as I shook his hand through the blanket.

Both parents are exhausted, as you might expect, but it was good to see them. Jack's a little bit jaundiced but he's breastfeeding now, so things are progressing well. He looks so much like his mother. The same pretty, slightly upturned nose. And yes, very cute.

They're aiming to be discharged from hospital on Saturday morning. Until then, Maternity visiting hours are 3.00pm to 4.30pm and 6.30pm to 8.00pm daily, if you want to visit.

viciousdisorder is doing well. Jack was in a humidicrib for the day, but seems to be doing fine overall. No major dramas at least; 50cms long, and 3kgs, with very light hairs on the head.

It was a two-hour labour and a rough birth involving suction, and every man I've heard from has been horrified by that, and every woman I've heard from has been in awe: "Only two hours!" So make up your own minds; I haven't heard the mother's opinion yet.

Grandparents are highly biased.

Boss: He's so cute!
Her husband: He's a good looking kid.

But judging from the photos, I can't disagree.

Current plans are for boss and me to go visit on Thursday afternoon. I don't know how long mother and child will still be in hospital, most likely Friday or Saturday. I'll keep you updated on that, because I know most of you can't get time off work during the week.

Because it's still only family that are being allowed to see her and the baby.

But that's okay, because her parents are taking my card to her, while I get to go home and start on my giant pile of laundry, so I don't need to stay up late tonight and do that. Far less fun, but necessary and certainly helpful, so I can't complain about a shortened work day. ^_^

I'm sure I'll have more to share tomorrow after I hear allll about it. ~_^

I don't know when friends will be able to see the newest family member. I'll let you know if/when I find out.

Jack was born at 3:44am, this morning, 2012.7.10. After getting that message from

viciousdisorder at 5:30am, and considering her mother only had half the day booked, work has been a bit of a blur this morning.

Her parents are being kind enough to take me along to visit her this afternoon. SMS me if you want to know what hospital she's in, if you want to go visit.

I don't know when I'll get the chance to update again, but hopefully later tonight after I see her. Hopefully.

viciousdisorder offline. Since she clearly has other things on her mind right now, I'll be updating as I hear from her parents.

For now: since the baby is now overdue, she's going in to hospital tonight, and if nothing happens by tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, the doctor wants to induce her. Either way, she's in for a long night.

Keep your fingers crossed.

The grandmother-to-be (my boss) is having trouble focussing at work and has been telling all the patients all about it. It's kind of adorable. XD

I will keep you all updated as I hear more, although I do have an appointment tomorrow night, so my updates may be erratic.
