Quote of the day from Poppy Z. Brite:

I've certainly never read over anything I've written and said to myself, "That's brilliant!" The best I can generally hope for is, "Well, I did pretty much what I set out to do with that." In a way, writers are doomed to fail almost every time they put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard, because the story that ends up on the page almost never lives up to the huge, sprawling, limitless pageant in your mind.

Dead. Brain-dead. Dead tired. *collapses*

I love presentations where you don't have to say much. Like today, I made one comment, the rest of the class picked up on it and started talking about it. And I didn't have to talk for the rest of the lesson. ^_^ The point of the presentation was to stimulate discussion... well, it did. It just meant that I didn't actually do much talking myself. Hm.

Anyway I went across to the shops waiting for my friends to finish classes afterwards. And I finally found the gay literature section in Borders! Right near the poetry! So I sat there reading some short stories... including Poppy Z. Brite's "Bayou del la Mère" in Queer Fear 2, an anthology of gay horror stories. Great story. Great imagery. I was very impressed with it.

And because I'm a dork who loves 80s music, I also took a listen to Van Halen's "Best of Both Worlds," and the "Best of REM" CDs. It's really, really BAD of shops to let you listen to music and read books in the shop because you end up wanting to buy everything!

On the other hand, it's still the easiest way to waste two hours. ^_^

Because today was Tight-arse Tuesday... Officially it's cheap Tuesday at the cinemas and you can see movies for half-price, but we're poor students, thus tight-arses who don't want to spend a lot of money. :p So some friends and I decided to go see "Shaun of the Dead" today.

It's a very British movie... has a very British sense of humour. Even so, I died laughing when the jukebox started playing Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" in the middle of an action scene. I'm not going to give away all the jokes... but I now have that song stuck in my head!! I was rather disappointed when it was cut off in the movie. I was enjoying it. :p *pretends she wasn't being a dork and dancing in her seat*

We also got to see the trailer to The Grudge. And none of my friends want to see that now cause it looks too scarey! ~_^

But it was fun. ♥ I'm dead tired, but it was so worth it. Nothing better than hanging out with friends outside class time. ^_^
