After that exam I need it. My god! It was a fucking nightmare!! @_@ Nothing on tourism, one question on gender, and the rest dealt with politics and religion, the two topics I was avoiding like the plague. And I only wrote three pages for two of them and two pages for the third. Whatever happened to the seven page essays I could do in high school?
I read over the questions and went, nope, not doing that one... nope, not that one... no, I don't think so... nope... ehh?... WTF!... In the end I did something on why Southeast Asian women have historically been considered more equal to their male counterparts in Anthropological research than women elsewhere in the world, something about the conflict between minority groups and majority populations with regards to land ownership and useage in Thailand, Burma and Laos, and the third one was something about how Theravada Buddhism has shaped perceptions of masculinity and femininity and how this has contributed to the widespread prostitution in Thailand. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THERAVADA BUDDHISM IS!!!!!! @_@
But everyone else felt equally horrible. I haven't done an exam that bad since the Japanese Cultural History exam last year where I only answered half the questions!
Quote of the week goes to Katie though: "We all failed, so we all passed." Her theory is that since everyone did so badly we'll all get scaled up. Lets hope so.
But I was cheered up after I went and collected my Video Report assignment for the same subject and got a Distinction (that's an "A" for you Americans)! So hopefully that will help my marks.
Thank god that's over though.
Although, I have to say, interresting question. One of the exam questions asked why the Burmese regime under the SPDC has (so far) been successful whereas the Cambodian regime under the Khmer Rouge wasn't. Hm. It would be interesting to look into the politics and approaches of each regime if I had a longer time to research the essay, but I didn't know the answer off the top of my head today so I skipped that one.
If I liked alcohol now would be the perfect time to get blindingly drunk, but since I'm only a cyberspace junkie I shall surf till my fingers hurt instead. ^_^
