^_^ Horror fans are funny people. Not funny in the head because they're warped and like horror, but funny because they have a good sense of humour. The forums to this site have been cracking me up.

Yes, I've been sucked in by the Ring. I re-watched the first movie yesterday, and today I watched Ring 2 and Ring 0. And I think I've found a new temporary obsession. ~_^

I'm no fan of horror movies. I hate gore and gratuitous violence, and I hate splatter horror and anything along those lines. But I love spooky, and sad ghost stories. Out of my friends who've seen Ring, that is, the Japanese movie based on the book by Koji Suzuki, there are two types of reactions to the movie. Either people are terrified like my sister for example (I can't believe she came close to actually screaming in that scene in the well; it was sort of a half-scream, half-squeak), or people think it's a beautifully styled, melancholy ghost story, like I see it.

I absolutely LOVE the movie(s), as you can probably tell from my watching all three in two days and watching the second one twice too. And ok, so I'm a fan of Japanese pop culture, that's hardly a secret to anyone, so that may be part of the reason I love them so much, but I also love movies that make you want to watch them again and again, just to see what you can pick up that you didn't notice the first time.

I don't think there was any part where I was really scared, although that part with Reiko's son and the video just made my heart drop straight out of my chest and into the floor, just because it'd be such a dreadful thing if it happened to your own kid. What?! Regi getting motherly? Hey, shut up! Even I have feelings, ok! ~_^

Anyway, I loved Reiko's and Ryuji's characters because they were so wonderfully human and it's so easy to relate to them both. Also, Sadako's character in the third movie had the same quality, and I don't think it's just the idea of being able to relate to the freak-of-the-class character, but because there's something so heartbreakingly tragic about her story you can't help but feel for her. *bawls eyes out*

I haven't seen the American remake, The Ring, but I want to now. It's going to be hard trying to be unbiased when I see it though. @_@

Random trivia: Did you know L'Arc~en~Ciel do the theme music to the third movie, Ring 0? I thought that was hyde's voice I heard when I watched the credits. Yeah, I'm one of those people who likes watching credits to the very end. But I checked, and L'Arc's songs "FINALE" and "HOLE" appear in the credits.
